HANDMADE JAPANESE SUIU TEACUP & SAUCER | NISHIKAWA JAPAN
£98.00Experience the delicate beauty of Japanese tea culture with the Suiu Tea Cup & Saucer, expertly crafted by NISHIKAWA JAPAN, a Kyoto-based teaware brand with a heritage dating back to 1917.
Made using a specialised porcelain technique known as Eggshell Porcelain (Rankaku-de), the cup is remarkably thin and lightweight—almost as light as paper. Its translucent body allows light to gently pass through, while a delicate Camellia (Tea Flower) motif is subtly revealed at the base of the cup when held up to the light, celebrating the quiet artistry of Japanese craftsmanship.
The elegant hemispherical shape enhances the natural colour of tea, allowing every infusion to be appreciated visually as well as in taste. Designed to pair beautifully with the matching teapot, this refined cup and saucer create a harmonious tea experience for both everyday rituals and special occasions.
Suiu (翠雨), meaning "Emerald Rain," is inspired by the gentle rain that falls upon fresh green leaves in early summer. Its soft green glaze captures the freshness of the season, evoking the peaceful atmosphere of rain-washed foliage and bringing a sense of calm and renewal to every tea moment.

Care
Not suitable for dishwasher, microwave, freezer, oven, or direct flame use.
The fine, lightweight construction of these vessels makes them beautifully delicate. To preserve their finish, we recommend gentle hand washing, as dishwashers may cause chipping.
Notes
Each piece is handcrafted, with slight variations in form and texture. Subtle glaze variations are a natural characteristic of the making process and add to the unique expression of each piece.
Small black specks may appear on the surface due to naturally occurring iron in the clay. These are a normal characteristic of Japanese ceramics and are not considered defects.
The matte, unglazed surface gives each piece its distinctive texture. As unglazed porcelain is more susceptible to scratches and staining, we recommend handling it with care.
