JAPANESE INCENSE DISCOVERY SET | HYAKURAKU-KOU – 9 FRAGRANCE & INCENSE TRAY | KOUSAIDO 香彩堂
£42.00Nine fragrances, one beautifully considered introduction to Japanese incense.
Description
A fragrance journey through nine different expressions of Japanese incense.
Kousaido’s Hyakuraku-kou brings together nine distinctive fragrances in one presentation box, ranging from familiar florals and fresh green notes to traditional aromatic woods.
Each fragrance is individually wrapped in a slim colour-coded packet, creating a beautifully ordered spectrum when the wooden box is opened. Six sticks of each fragrance are included, giving enough time to experience each scent without committing to a full box.
The set is completed with a long celadon incense tray, so everything needed to begin enjoying the collection is already inside.
Nine Fragrances
Magnolia 木蓮

Vanilla バニラ
A gentle, sweet and comforting vanilla fragrance.
Jasmine ジャスミン

Green Tea 緑茶
A clean, refreshing fragrance inspired by Japanese green tea.
Bamboo 竹
Fresh green notes recalling young bamboo.
Camphor Tree 楠
A clear, forest-like fragrance with the distinctive freshness of camphor wood.
Sandalwood 白檀
Smooth, elegant and gently woody — one of the classic materials of Japanese incense.
Coffee 珈琲
Warm roasted coffee notes, an unexpected contemporary addition to the collection.
Aloeswood 沈香
A deeper, more contemplative woody fragrance inspired by one of Japan's most important traditional incense materials.

Why We Chose It
We like Hyakuraku-kou because it removes one of the biggest difficulties of choosing incense: knowing where to begin.
Japanese incense covers an enormous range of fragrance styles. This collection moves gradually from approachable floral and sweet fragrances through fresh green notes and finally into traditional aromatic woods such as sandalwood and aloeswood.
It makes the set particularly suitable for someone discovering Japanese incense for the first time — but equally enjoyable for an experienced incense user who wants variety rather than a single fragrance.
The presentation is also unusually satisfying. Nine slim packets, subtle metallic detailing, a natural wooden box and a pale celadon incense tray turn what could have been a simple sampler into a complete gift set.
