Product Description

At first glance, it could almost be mistaken for a small tin of mints. Inside, however, are slender sheets of paper incense designed to be lit and enjoyed wherever a little fragrance is needed.

Each sheet burns for around 5 minutes according to the information printed on the packaging, gently releasing its fragrance into the surrounding space. Compact and lightweight, the tin can slip easily into a bag, desk drawer or suitcase, while the included metal holder means there is no need for a traditional incense burner.

What makes this design particularly appealing is how naturally it fits into contemporary life. Incense is often associated with quiet rooms, meditation and elaborate rituals; this version asks for none of them. We selected this paper incense because it challenges the usual image of Japanese incense. Rather than recreating a traditional aesthetic, GRASSE TOKYO has reconsidered how incense might actually be used today.

The paper format is clever, portable and remarkably approachable. The compact silver tin feels almost like something you might carry alongside mints or cosmetics, making fragrance a small everyday habit rather than a ritual reserved for a particular setting.

For us, this is another side of contemporary Japanese design: taking something familiar, removing what is unnecessary, and making it easier to live with.
