Why We Chose It

In a world where almost everything can be stored on a phone, carrying a small notebook can feel surprisingly personal.

We especially like RO-BIKI NOTE when paired with its notebook cover and one or two favourite writing tools. Together, they form a compact everyday set that slips easily into a bag and is always ready for a thought, a sketch, a number or something worth remembering.

There is also something distinctly Japanese about this habit. Despite living in one of the world’s most technologically advanced societies, notebooks, pens and carefully designed stationery remain part of everyday life in Japan. To us, that coexistence of analogue and digital feels less nostalgic than intentional — a small choice to slow down, write by hand and enjoy the objects we use every day.

Design & Material

The waxed-paper cover is designed to change through use. As the wax gradually settles into the kraft paper, the surface becomes deeper in colour and develops natural creases and marks, giving each notebook an increasingly individual, vintage character.

Inside, the paper reflects the experience of a long-established Japanese paper maker, selected for a smooth and balanced writing feel across pencils, ballpoint pens, fountain pens and other writing instruments.

The slim format also makes it an ideal companion to the RO-BIKI notebook cover.
